At Gold Country Retirement Center we offer residential living, assisted living, and skilled nursing. We have answered some frequently asked questions for each of our senior living options on this page.

What is residential living?

Senior living is a community designed for those over 55 that desire carefree living and social engagement.

What are the prices?

What languages do you speak at Gold Country Retirement Center?

At Gold Country Retirement Center at least one member of our staff speaks Spanish, Tagalog, Ukraine, Russian, Thai, and Jordanian.

Is there any private space available to use?

You may reserve the activities lounge for any special event with notice. Contact the front office if you would like to reserve this space.

Is the community pet friendly?

Pets are permitted to visit, and we have specific areas for pets. If you would like a pet friendly apartment, please contact the leasing office for options.

Do I get an assigned parking spot?

All covered parking spots are assigned and all new residents go on a waiting list until a covered spot becomes available. All open spots are available for residents and their guests.

Do you have a beauty salon or barbershop?

At Gold Country Retirement Center we have a beauty and barber shop located by the health care center of the campus. We also offer manicures, pedicures and relaxing messages. Hours, services, and appointments can be made through the front desk.

Is internet access available?

We offer free WiFi internet for residents and their guests.

Is there a telephone in each apartment?

Each apartment is equipped with telephone hookups. If you would like telephone service, we can help you set it up through the phone company. Residents are welcome to bring their own mobile device.

Is there access to cable television?

We offer access to WiFi cable television for all residents in their apartment homes.

Are activities offered?

We believe events and activities enrich our residents’ lives and have a powerful impact on one’s overall wellbeing. We strive to create a fun, uplifting environment where our residents can be social, get involved, and enjoy their favorite hobbies and activities.

Is smoking permitted?

For the safety and health of our residents and staff, Gold Country Retirement Center is a smoke-free community. We do, however, have designated smoking areas outdoors. Please ask the receptionist for the location of our approved outdoor smoking areas.

Who do I talk to about questions in regard to financials, billing, and/or application paperwork?

At Gold Country Retirement Center we have a full-time business office manager. Our business office manager will answer any questions you may have regarding financial or billing concerns. To make an appointment with our business office manager, please contact the front desk.

ASSISTED LIVING

Visiting Hours

Gold Country Retirement Center has open visiting hours, based on the well-being of our residents.

What is assisted living?

Assisted living is housing for those over 55 that provides assistance with activities of daily living. We offer housekeeping, laundry, and various other services to support each resident’s personal achievable level of independence.

Do you offer housekeeping?

We provide weekly housekeeping. Our friendly and professional staff cleans each apartment once a week. If alternative measures must be taken, please contact our front office.

Can family or friends bring pets when visiting?

While our community does not allow pets to live in the apartments, pets are always welcome to visit. We ask that each pet have their current shots and be kept on a leash and under the control of their owner when in public areas.

Is there any private space available to use?

You may reserve the activities lounge for any special event with notice. Contact the front office if you would like to reserve this space.

Is there a beauty or barbershop on site?

At Gold Country Retirement Center we have a beauty and barber shop, located near the healthcare center of our beautiful campus. Hours, services, and appointments can be made through the front desk.

Is internet access available?

Wi-Fi internet is provided in public areas for residents and their guests. Please inquire with the front desk for internet installation for individual units.

Is there a telephone in each apartment?

Each apartment is equipped with telephone hookups. If you would like telephone service we can help you set it up through the phone company. Residents are welcome to bring their own mobile device.

Is there access to cable television?

We offer access to cable television for all residents in their rooms at no additional fee.

Do the apartments come with full kitchens?

Assisted living apartments do not come with full kitchens. At Gold Country Retirement Center we offer our residents with meals and snacks.

Is there a dining option?

We offer meals and snacks for our assisted living residents in a restaurant style atmosphere. Our chef works to create flavorful and nutritious food, and we also accommodate special dietary needs for residents with a physician’s order.

SKILLED NURSING

Visiting Hours

Gold Country Retirement Center has open visiting hours, based on the well-being of our residents. Please be aware of the following healthcare hours:

Health Center Reception Hours:
Monday: Friday 8am-4:40pm
Saturday: 9am-4:30pm
Sunday: 9am-4:30pm

Will Medicare cover my stay in the community?

If your Medicare card says “Hospital Insurance,” and you have had a qualifying 3 night admitted status, hospital stay in the last 30 days, Medicare will generally pay 100% of your first 20 days in a skilled nursing community.

How often will the Rehabilitation staff work with my loved one?

When you arrive at Gold Country Retirement Center you will be assessed and assigned a customized treatment plan. Each plan varies based on the needs of the resident.

How often will a physician or health professional visit?

Generally, each resident sees a physician when they are admitted and every thirty days thereafter. However, our nursing staff is in constant communication with each our physicians.

What articles of clothing should we bring?

We recommend bringing at least five changes of clothes and a pair of comfortable rubber-soled shoes. All items should be washed, clearly labeled with the resident’s name, and entered into the resident’s inventory log.

How is the laundry done? Can family members take laundry home?

If you would like us to do your laundry please notify the front office upon admission. Family members can, of course, take care of their loved one’s laundry. If your family member will be washing your laundry please provide a hamper with a lid and ensure it is picked up at least twice a week.

Each item of clothing is washed in an industrial machine at high temperatures. Please make sure the clothing that is brought is appropriate for washing and drying in these high temperatures. Each personal item must be labeled with the resident’s first and last name.

Is there someone who provides haircuts?
At Gold Country Retirement Center we have a beauty and barber shop. Hours, services, and appointments can be made through the front desk.

Can my loved one receive mail?
Mail is delivered to each resident daily, except on weekends and holidays.

You may also use our “Send a Greeting” feature where you can type out a note, and we will hand deliver it to your loved one for free. Our “Send a Greeting” feature also offers the option of paying a small fee for a postcard that is mailed to your loved one.

Can children visit?

We encourage children to visit, but we ask that you notify the charge nurse if anyone under the age of 12 will be in the community.

Can we bring a family pet to the community?

Your family pet is invited to visit as long as they are kept on a leash and under the control of their owner, cleaned up after, and up to date on vaccinations.

Is there any private space available to use?

Can I take my loved one home for a visit?

Residents may take a “leave of absence” with a physician’s authorization. This authorization can be arranged through our nursing staff. When leaving and returning the resident, or responsible party, must sign the “Leave of Absence” book in the nursing station.

Can I bring in my loved one’s favorite food?

Always consult with the nursing staff before bringing food to residents. Many of our residents have physician-ordered specific diets with limitations. Any food kept in the resident’s room must be in properly sealed and dated containers.

Who do I talk to about food preferences? Are there alternate options to each day’s menu?

After admission our on-site dietitian interviews all of our residents. The registered dietitian consultant keeps these meetings in mind when designing our dietary program.

We follow physician orders to meet the needs of each resident, while making sure the meals are enjoyable and full of flavor. We also administer oral supplements, as prescribed by physicians, and provide regular nutritional assessments by our dietitian.

Should you wish for an alternative food item in place of what is on the daily menu, we ask that you inform the CNA. This information will then be passed on to the Food Service Director, and every effort will be made to accommodate needs.

Will my loved one have telephone access?

Residents are more than welcome to bring their cell phones, and all of our rooms are equipped with a telephone hookup. Please inquire about service activation. There are also cordless telephones at each of the nurse’s stations that are available for resident use.

Will my loved one have Internet access?

Free Wi-Fi Internet is provided on-site for all residents and their guests.

Will my loved one’s room have a television?

Televisions are not provided. If you would like to bring your own television from home please check with the front desk on size restrictions and installation.

Rehabilitation

How often will the Rehabilitation staff work with my loved one?

When you arrive at Gold Country Retirement Center you will be assessed and assigned a customized treatment plan. Each plan varies based on the needs of the resident.

Do you offer outpatient rehabilitation?

Yes, outpatient therapy is offered in our Gold Country Healthcare Center. We have a separate entrance for these patients to access the rehabilitation gym.

How often will a physician or health professional visit?

Can I take my loved one home for a visit?
